MOVED . MOVED . MOVED

Yep. I’m moving to Blogger.com.

Why?

Because friendster’s blogging service is not up to par.

Visit the new Kawai~neh! for more info. :)

How to convey your feelings

March 7th, 2007 by starfighter-leo-seiyaleo

How do you tell people you that they’re annoying you?

By shoving this witty lil button at their face! Hah!

Img_1320_1  Img_1321

You may use it to keep whining, irritating, impossible people at bay.

Handy eh?

Bought it from my ever trusted online shopping site, Etsy.

Check out the shop I got it from - allegrae.

*Sigh*

Back to reality - my studying life is sooo siau.

I understand now why people get schizophrenia from studying. I mean seriously going mental. Serious.

My 2 Cents

March 5th, 2007 by starfighter-leo-seiyaleo

This afternoon, we just had our first CSU (Clinical Skills Unit) lesson.

It turned out to be a nightmare.

The concept -

There were around 10 to 12 people in a group, and there’s a ‘patient’, and of course a facilitating lecturer. We were to act as qualified pharmacists and interact with the supposed-customer.

Actually, the CSU is conducted on a one-to-one basis -meaning one student interacting with one patient at one station. And during the real CSU training, there will be 6 to 7 stations, each a different patient with a different disease.

Scary?

Not only that, each station we will be given 5 minutes to prepare and 5 minutes to ‘interogate’ the patient to get as much information as we can so that we can make recommendations.

After all the UTP (Understanding the Patient) lessons we’ve had, I still think it’s not really neccessary to learn sooo much about interacting with your patients. My principle - just be nice, polite, alert, and be a good listener, ask the right questions and know your stuff.

I’m not saying learning communication skills are not important. I just think that some people expect too much from medical professionals.

Like just now, the patient we had was a visitor from outside IMU, maybe who had volunteered to be ‘questioned’ by us students. Her feedback for us was that ‘Be nice. Personality and behaviour are the most important factors which will determine whether or not your patients or customers will come back to you. Giving inaccurate or ineffective medications will not affect the impression they have on you as a pharmacist that much’.

What the?

If I were given meds that have no effect at all on my illness, I won’t ever go back to that particular pharmacy I got them from ever again, even if the pharmacist there was as sweet as sugar.

Why I say people expect too much from medical professionals? I can say 99%, if not every patient, thinks that they have the right to blame us if anything goes wrong, or they can nag us just because they are the ones being sick.

What. It takes time to study, revise, memorise, practise and get familiar with all the medical terms, pathophsiology, drug names, functions, mechanism of action, adverse effects, pharmacokinetics (see, you dont’ know what this word means right?), pharmacology (hah, and this), pharmaceutics (-_-) and all. You think we are computers ah? Cram cram cram everything into our brains?

But the most unacceptable thing is, people always think that medical bills are extremely, unreasonably, superficially, utterly and at the utmost high.

What. You see our course fees baru you know.

We’re studying until half dead already, and you think it’s easy prescribing medicines. See if no one wants to study medicine, pharmacy and all, see if there’ll be anyone or any help at all to treat you.

Just don’t mess up your health and go seronok-seronok doing I-don’t-care-about-my-health activites, then come crying to us for help.

I’m starting to truly regret ever going into Pharmacy.

End of CNY hols

February 24th, 2007 by starfighter-leo-seiyaleo

Haih…. Tomorrow, I’ll be flying back to KL lo….

Honestly, I’m not too keen to start studies again, as my brain’s been 100% on holiday too. Occasionally, I did try to pseudo-comfort my conscience (that I have to study) by flipping through the ‘Shock’ articles and the Pharmaceutics photocopied passages. I can’t say I really concentrated but with luck, about 2% did register. :P

Asides food and CNY visiting and Astro, one other major thing that’s been occupying my mind and interest all this while is my online buying-selling hobby.

Kawaii~neh! is not doing bad at all. In fact, crafting, selling and buying online are the only 3 things I’ve felt really really happy and excited in doing.

Pharmacology, pharmacuetics, chemistry?

*rude gesture*

I think the reason I actually took Pharmacy was because I didn’t and still don’t want my brain to degenerate in intelligence as well as reasoning and intepretive skills. It’s definitely challenging studying science but I find no pleasure in it. Satisfaction, yes, because I know I’m gaining knowledge. But never happiness.

I’ll be living two lives from now on. I’ve decided to bring all my shop stuff with me so that I can still continue business, and all the materiallistic pleasures resulting. But of course, I must focus on my studies, so that I won’t be flushing my parents’ money down the drain. I know I won’t be able to concentrate 100% on my studies, but at least I won’t be down all the time, ya?

Not for the first time, I’m thinking, did I really make the right choice in choosing my path to the future? Maybe it’s still to early to know what I might be doing next time, but I really want to explore and be part of the creative side of the world. Having surfed through hundreds of websites of freelance crafters and artists, craft forums, Flickr and online shops worldwide, I am inspired to delve into more crafting techniques such as using polymer clay, dichroic glass and lampworking (making glass beads by heat). There are sooo much more crafting-related stuff I want to explore but haven’t, and maybe will not have the chance to.

Haih…..

Home for Chinese New Year!!!!!

February 16th, 2007 by starfighter-leo-seiyaleo

Yay!!! I’m home finally!!!

It’s been a week of torture - waiting for Friday so that I can take the flight back home in the evening.

Happy that my mum’s baking again. Usually, I’m the one who does all the baking because I have nothing better to do. :P This time, since I was only back the day before Chinese New Year’s Eve, mum decided to put her baking skills to good use. :D She made 3 steamed layer cakes (THE BEST!!!!), 2 cheesecakes and 3 types of cookies and some local snacks like milk powder-icing sugar coated fried popiah skins (I LOVE THESE!!!). The fridge is bursting with carefully-aluminium-wrapped logs of cakes and the food cupboards are loaded with dozens of tins of cookies. My pain-stakingly monitored diet for the one and half months at uni is sure to be busted by the end of the coming week. T-T

One other thing that I’m glad for for being home is (besides family companion and food), opening my swap packages and things I bought online!

Sticker Sacks bought from Masako of Daisuki and also from her eBay store + 2 San-X Momobuta (Peach Pig) sack stickers from myTarson eBay store

Img_3118_1 Img_3120

I’m in heaven. Japanese kawaii stickers are my ultimate obsession.

Img_3117_6Stickers and Stationery from KawaiiPop’s Livejournal

The whole lot was only US$15.50 shipped. There was a sale then, so I grabbed the opportunity to get some of the sticker sheets I’ve been drooling over for the past one year.

Then, there were swap packages - one from Bevurlee in Canada  the other from Phyllis in California.

I requested a pair of hand-knitted fingerless gloves from Phyllis, and here they are :

Img_3122  Img_3123

Img_3127 … and all the other stuffs she sent. :)

LIPSMACKERS!!!!!! M&M FLAVOURED!!!!!

I’m super hyper!!!!

There were tons of craft supplies too - 5 types of ribbons, American chocolates and candies, local stickers and postcards, beads (polymer clay, acrylic and glass).

I’m in paradise. :D

Img_3130 Bevurlee sent MORE LIPSMACKERS!!!!! PETPALS and Ice Creamies!!!!! Wohooo!

OMG! They smell like chocolates and the bakery!

No wonder la. The flavours are - Arctic’s Mint Smoothie, Sugar’s Holiday Cookie, Moose’s Chocolate Mousse, Starberry’s Sprinkle Cake, Kiwi’s Fruit Pie, Cupcake’s Strawberry Frosting.

I’m positively drooling now. :P

My sister got some things too from her best friend in Chicago. I get a share of the gifts - a Vanilla Lipsmacker! Smells heavenly and it’s my favourite. :) Anything vanilla is goooood! :D

Img_3140_1Other than stuff for me, I’ve to pack and seal my Etsy orders. Here are two of them :

Rainbow Embellished Felt Cuff / Pin + Fruit Salad - Lime and Grapefruit Slices.

For the rest of the one week holiday, apart from CNY visiting and stuffing myself silly with delicious cakes and cookies, I’m hoping to sell off more loose sticker pieces from the fresh batch of sacks received. Hopefully, I’ll be able to build up my Paypal balance once more so that I can continue fulfilling my forever-unsatisfied materiallistic needs. :P

Happy Chinese New Year! :)

Gifts from Etsy

February 7th, 2007 by starfighter-leo-seiyaleo

Spent some of the income from online selling on some gifts for a friend and my bro.

First off, I got a screen-printed scarf for my bro. I really like the designs by this Etsy seller - 1AEON. She has really cool stuff like owl shirts, dragons, and griffins. Check her out. :) I’m planning to get one of the T-shirts for myself next time. :D

Next off, I bought 3 separate items from 3 sellers on Etsy for a friend :
Tiny Tree Charm Pendant from Bethany Cooper + The Brain I Silver Pendant from Tilly Bloom

Img_1322_1  Img_1320

I got another thing - a screenprinted bunny pillow from craftpaca.

I’m running low on my Paypal balance, so I’ve to put a stop temporarily to online buying. :P

January 4th, 2007 by starfighter-leo-seiyaleo

Img_3107_1 Collected two swap packages today. I’m like "Phew!".

Such a lot of stuff!

First off, is the Red & White December 2006 Craft & Candy Swap from Lori US.

Got a box stuffed full of things I love!

Go to my Flickr photos for more info of the whole schwagg.

4 yummy lipbalms (Reese’s Chocolate Peanut Butter, popcorn, Junior Mints and Nesquick), Reese’s Double Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups, Reese’s Chocolate Peanut Butter Bites, handmade star plushie *squeesh*, Mrs Fields Decadent Chocolates, peppermint candy canes, deco tape, vintage toys, snowflake stamp, craft supplies.

I just gained 5 kilos after that.

Second package was from my swap angel Edel, from Ireland. I participated in Sweet Treats Round 3 on craftster.org sometime in November. I was supposed to get something from Mackenzie in Australia, but somehow, nothing came. So, Edel was sweet enough to offer to send my something. :)

Sexy Red Knitted Wristwarmers!!!!!

Img_3109_1  Img_3113_1
I’ve been wanting a pair of knitted wristwarmers for a looong time.

I’d have dearly love this pair, if it weren’t for the bright red colour!

Dang! I don’t think I can wear them to lectures without a lot of eyes on them. :( And a lot of attention disturbed. :P

Aiyah…. I’ll just see if I can sneek them on lah. :P

Img_3115And here’s a picture for you to drool over :

Mrs. Fields Decadent Chocolates

Haih…. I’ll be flying over back to KL tomorrow morning. Hmm… I’m quite excited to get back. But I’m not sure if my brain is. :( I haven’t been doing any revision or any manner of studying at all for a whole one and a half months. Gotta prise off the rust growing on it.

Hmm…. :)

Patchwork + Sushi

January 4th, 2007 by starfighter-leo-seiyaleo

Yay-hey! Almost end of the holidays now. Actually, I’ve been quite bored loh these few days… Yeah, at first it was like in paradise - crafting, selling, and buying and crafting and crafting and more crafting. Then, after a few weeks, when sales started slowing down and my creative juices drying up, things began to get monotonous….

Anyway, I went to get my bags from the tailor’s this morning.

I LOVE them. :D

Amy Butler Full Bloom Patchwork Tote :

Forgive my unbelievably fat forearm in the second pic. T-T

I’ve been trying to cut down on comfort foods and snacks, but it’s just too hard.

What’s more, it’s the ‘ga-rang’ and ‘liu-lien’ season. T-T

"What the Foochow?!!??", you say?

Those are the ever fattening local black olives (with yellow flesh) and durians.

*Mashes another ga-rang into the sugar-sprinkled black soy sauce and pops it into mouth* T-T

Oh… and here’s the sushi bag :

Outside + Inside

Img_3103  Img_3102_1

I love both and I can’t decide which one to use.

Maybe I’ll use them alternately each week. :P

Posh Totty Posh Totty ~

December 29th, 2006 by starfighter-leo-seiyaleo

Img_3089 Woohoo! I received my Posh Totty hair ties!!!

They’re actually rather much smaller than I’d expected they’d be. But still, they’re just gorgeous!

I love love love the fabric designs on them! This set of 5 is a theme of gothic Alice in Wonderland. They were made by the amazing Katie Barker, whose creations (especially hair ties and hair pins) I’ve come to love. I got to know about her products through Etsy, where I stumbled across her Etsy shop.

There are several sellers on Etsy who sells fabric-covered button hair ties like Katie does. Each and every one of their creations are unique and worthy to be drooled over. :D
